The Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer (Solar Panel – Array Process Engineer) at Sylmar, CA.

As a member of our Manufacturing Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to work on projects covering the entire range of Spectrolab’s products: everything from large and small solar panels and arrays for a variety of space applications to photolithography tooling used to fabricate the world’s most efficient space solar cells to airborne searchlight, gimbal systems and ground-based high-intensity illuminated test systems. You will also have the opportunity to directly contribute to development programs and to help shape our next-generation improvements in product, process and tooling design.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops test coupons, test, qualify/approve, document process, train personnel, implement process, monitor process, and support personnel during execution of process
- Develops, revise, and approve work instructions that conform to the engineering requirements
- Develops, revise, and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Specifications, and Quality Control History Records (QCHR’s)
- Leads process development for risk mitigation and various advanced technology initiatives
- Generates and provides rework/repair dispositions and instructions for Non-Conformance hardware and process
- Assists in the identification of tooling and shop-aid requirements based on manufacturing, assembly, testing, and engineering requirements
- Collects and analyze data to support assessments for process, part, and/or product designs.
- Provides Liaison Engineering support to the shop floor during operational execution
- Collaborates with various functional engineering disciplines to create Work-Around Plans (WAP) that will direct the sequencing to execute manufacturing, assembling, installing, and manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers
- Participates in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR)
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering field
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis and/or process improvements and/or manufacturing engineering, and/or production system developments
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Database development (SQL preferred).
- Factory Automation experience.
- Maintaining production procedure and documentation.
- General Array Integration and Test operations support.
- Participated in LEAN events (AIW, 3P etc.).
- Participated in RCCA investigation.
Typical Education/ Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position is does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
